This is how epic StarMade would be with sound effects

    This kind of sound would make the feeling better in dogfights.
    But actually it seems like you can not hear the impact sounds if you're already hearing 100% your guns sounds (like with a high ROF weapons). This should be rethinked in order to work well.
    PS: What are your guns? new weapons system missile+beam combo?

    If you look through the games files, you can see a large amount of sounds ready for use. This is probably planned, but they just wanna get everything finalized first. No point deciding a sound is for something then changing it so that sound is now redundant :)

    Yeah, some of them are really mysterious too. I can't wait for there to be more sounds than 'cold, dead space wind'

    The game already has sounds in space, and realism is already out the window and shot a few times, so what the heck, lets have moar sounds :)

    Starmade, a less realistic game, would benefit more from sounds as though we were in air.

    Contrasting this, a realistic game such as Space Engineers would make sense to have sound only work through vibrating metal or pressurized areas.

    Yeah, after shifting through most of the sound files, I can say I anticipate for StarMade to become much more active than I originally thought :P

    If you pick up a copy of the very early alpha you can see the sounds in action (some of them at least)

    Has anyone tried replacing the sounds? I don't have a (non virus) WebM to MP3 converter or else I'd make a sick audio pack and upload it to /mods. If anyone can give me a (non virus) Webm 2 mp3 that would be great.

    It's good. The impact sounds like you're bashing a plastic tray, though, so that could be something worth working on.

    Try applying a lowpass and some reverb to some impact sounds - that gives the 'no sound in space' feel while not actually making it silent.

    I'm not a sound tech, mind, so my advice might not be worth much.

    Try Audacity. It's free and can convert .wav into .ogg files (and vice versa). I think Starmade uses .ogg files, so you should be good to go. I tried replacing sounds a while back and got some pretty cool effects, but obviously I couldn't get far since there are only half a dozen used sounds in-game so far.

    Super by erightsoft, it seems legit but you can never be sure. The functionality is nice though, a lot of audio and several video codecs (I use it to download music from Youtube or convert .wma files)

    I messed around with the sounds a bit a while ago though I never was able to make something that I really liked. To convert the files I just used an online program, cant remember what it's called though. Ill look for it and keep you posted if I find it again.

    It can convert a few different file types(including OGG to mp3) and I had no problems with it, plus it's totally free. Hope this works and I cant wait to hear what you make.

    Thank you both RedDragonflyxx and jzimmerman4 these both looks good, I'll see what I can do but don't expect miracles. I'm no expert modder.

    the sounds I can replace are so minimal because the game uses very few sounds. There are no missile sounds, no reload sounds and only 1 gun sound. This is why I said don't expect miracles.

    EDIT: The Erightsoft thing was adware, but thank you anyway
