I'm hoping this doesn't offend any of the Schine guys, because I have the upmost admiration for what they have done with this game. I am a huge fan! I've been mulling over how to write this for the forum for a while, so some of this stuff may have already been dealt with or denied.

Since I've been playing Starmade (which has only been 4-5 months), I've learned a great deal, but have so so much more to learn. And from the YouTube clips and Forum entries I've read, there is a great community in this game.

My suggestions are around some core functionality (no pun intended), but it's mainly the whole Station vs ship vs asteroid vs planet etc.

    Suggestions

Convert all objects to ship or asteroid like entities. I would love for the game to be closer to reality, with nothing fixed in space and effected by each other. But I understand for game play, there is a reason why we do have fixed objects like stations, wormholes, stars etc.

Enable build block on all entities, including asteroids. Much more useful in building, because you can place it anywhere on the structure and have as many as you need. I've seen this mention in other forum posts.

If Station style fixed structure is required, convert the Station block to a "Fixed Point" block for anything.
    - when you place this block on any structure, it fixes it in space the same way a station is fixed. That way, when you remove/destroy this block the structure can be dislodged and become free floating for more excitment and crazy managment/recovery by the faction.

Change Core block to Central Computer Core and make available to be used in all structure entities.
    - Can continue to have existing textures, because it is a cool looking block.
    - Give ability to select a block for sitting on for specific use;
    - When you sit on the designated block it could operate the same as enterig core, but you appear to be sitting.
    - Or perhaps open up functionality of the game to the following, by giving he ability to assign chair functions.
    - Provides Captain's chair/ pilot functionality
    - Could also designate a chair type
    - Captain (Access to all functions)
    - Pilot (Flight Controls Only)
    - Weapons (Self explanatory)
    - Comms (Inter-ship, chat, clan, faction, general, whatever, central command, central library computer)
    - Science (Scanning, tech dev, whatever...)
    - This would make multi-player capability like that in the game "Artimus Space Bridge Simulator", but with the potential for so much more.
    - Being able to assign multiple functions to a chair would be useful for smaller craft with 1-3 player crew.
    - perhaps assign/unassign functions according to what chair is the captains

    Example:
A typical functionality that I wish I had available to me would be to simulate what happens in Stargate, where in the show Stargate Universe we discover the ancients sent out ships to seed galaxies with stargates.

I would love to be able to build such a ship where I could load it up and send it on it's merry way depositing Stargates, I mean Warp Gates. If the Warp gate could be manufactured as a free floating entity like a ship and then anchored with a "Fixed point" block, or not, this would be such a cool game feature. If a gate could be capture, you could do all sorts of nifty things not to mention just use it for yourself. You would have to have engineers to maintain their systems. Security around them and to investigate what happened to them if they dissapear. A captured gate could be used to infiltrate, attack, illegally transport, the list goes on. All ideas presented in the various Stargate series over the years.

The problem with being able to place build blocks on asteroids is that you can instamine that stuff by going remove mode on advanced build mode.

advance build mode doesn't mine ore. I don't want one block controlling everything. I don't want my station to just disappear.

Concerning all the core suggestions, that is like 90% confirmed at this point. The devs know we want some sort of chair. They also stated that an asteroid for example could function like a station or ship and those mechanics will be applied to all entities somehow.

This could be handle with controls on the build block to prevent this kind of behaviour. Plus you could manage it from an admin perspective, where it would be a server configuration permitting or denying the behaviour at a granular level if need be.

If you station is part of a Faction, it wouldn't be easy for someone to disappear your station.

    Sweet! :)

I'm not really concerned with having an actual chair. The wedge blocks do the job for me. Although, it would be cool to have chairs. ;-)

I'm more concerned with in-flight functionality, to make crews a practical and integral part of a vessels purpose and operation.
