from what I gathered, you put in the numbers and it tells you if the system would even work. Charge time is related to % of the ship that is jump modules, so that much is legit just basic math once you figure out the % you need.
hmm if what you say would be totaly right, i'd rather step in that ship and find it out myself, i can watch a blue bar and i can count to 10

    yep
My calculator spits out various data about an existing jump drive plus a silly 'rating', not theorize about nonextant drives
so if i'm thinking right, is it to catogorise (hard time spelling) but to catogorise a ships jump drive. what exactly can you do with that information?

Mostly to decorate your ship descriptions, but also to give a vague idea of how fast your ship's drive charges and how far you'll go before running out of power

if you prefer less vagueness it also spits out the exact time, power usage, how many power outages etc

Ok, I've read thru this twice to be sure, but I don't think anyone has actually answered the right question.

brought me on an idea, a mod that calculates how many jump drive modules you need to go 1 sec per jump-2 sec per jump etc.
The answer is...your question is wrong. o_O

The jump drive will jump you 8 sectors or to your waypoint, whichever is closer. You will always use full charge.
You can not make a partial jump on a partial charge. To jump 1 sector, set your waypoint 1 sector away.

I believe one module is all you need to jump your ship, it'll just take a while to actually charge.
Ideally, you want 1 module for every 20 blocks on your ship.

Now I just hope I understood the wiki and the original question.

you got my quetion wrong, i already know what you said (btw the jump distance is not Always 8 sectors, servers ya know)
i mean how long it takes to charge, so a calculator that shows you how many jump MODULES you need to charge a jump in 1 second or 2 or 3 etc. not partial, just a nice thing to safe some space (in case you put way to many jump drives)
