I accidentally warped my ship into a star even though I was aiming for a planet. I then died and now I can not get back to it. I spent 10 hours building this ship and I need help.

I think the only thing that will work is if an admin teleports it. The sun does damage to blocks in general ignoring shields so if it continues to do that the ship will die. Not sure how the new system and armour hp works with sun damage. It might not get damaged while no one is in sector maybe. If your running the server or game there should be a server config change to have the sun not damage stuff otherwise use this command.

    teleport_selected_to
    • DESCRIPTION: teleports the currently selected entity
    • PARAMETERS: X(Float), Y(Float), Z(Float)
    • EXAMPLE: /teleport_selected_to 0.0 1.0 3.5
If your not an admin there is no way you can transfer to your original ship without dying that I'm aware of. Otherwise there are a few other commands that might work but that is the simplest. Or another admin command is:

    save
    • DESCRIPTION: Saves the currently entered/selected Object in the Catalog
    • PARAMETERS: NameInCatalog(String)
    • EXAMPLE: /save myNewShip
    Good Luck

Wrong command there mate, that command moves an entity within a sector, and he would want it out of the sector, and would still require you to be within the sector (the star) to select it with F.

If you have access to admin commands, /Godmode [name] true, Select with F and /change_sector x y z are the best combinations. There is also /change_sector_selected if you just wanted to select with F and warp it away, without getting in.

I assumed that the star wouldn't be damaging for that large an area. Either way he will need an admin to save it.

God mode then F8 into it then open nav and select another starsystem then admin warp.

    It's the fastest.

I would just /search "name of the ship" and then protect that sector it returns with /sector_chmod x y z + protected
that will protect your ship and yourself from heat damage. Afterwards just TP the ship out.

Just so that this thread can be a reference for similar problems later, is it possible to get the ship out without using commands?

Things that are coming to mind are pull/push beams (may not work if the star is capable of being struck by these), or making an extremely long ship with the core on one end to keep you safe, and then poke the ship out using the help of a camera(s) on the other end.

Potentially making another ship to make a push blast, and purposely warping into the star again and activating?

Just wondering if any of these would be viable

Well, firstly the star is a sector. It's really just a fancy background and a few lines attached to the sector for the effect of it.

Missile/Beam/Pull could work, would be like fishing, but if your lost ship is inside the star then chances are you're close enough to take damage when you finally see it. Place a couple of the Medical Cabinet blocks around the core, since those can restore place health (10 hp per activate, 60 second cooldown I think?).

But yeah, you can salvage a ship without admin commands, just have to be patient and careful.
