a block you can put at the end of a rail designed to launch items off the rail at speed. like an aircraft carriers catapult systems to launch aircraft. costs power. launch speed is based of of "slave" blocks and the mass of the craft you want to launch.

I'd just settle for a momentum system, I can see the instant speed being used for some laggy collision troll traps. But yes, I like the idea of catapults.

This sounds like a cool idea, though you can kinda of get an effect like this with logic and push weapons/rails.

yeah but a system designed for this would be much less glitch y than the current ways we "can" do it

Yeah I'd rather just have the max speed of rails increased and have momentum maintained on undock

Have to agree with Comr4de on that, and now I feel dirty... ;)

Better we get general use blocks and logic than specific purpose. IN the end the general use stuff finds more uses.

Every good series needs a villain IMO. Now you just need Ill-tempered Sea Bass with Lasers.

would also be interesting for use with drones - mines - or just cargo transfers would allow lots of interesting new ideas and options from combat to ship launching to trade

also +1 for ill tempered sea bass with lasers I'll take 10 for my evil lair err I mean faction base. . . . which I swear isn't a volcanic space asteroid with a missile in the volcano

You mean the missile that's a long smooth shaft with two spherical thruster pods and looks like somebody's-

That would be ideal. Just wondering if this is in line with the over all plan for the game. It would be very convenient.

A lot of people have bitched about this, enough to say with 95% certainty that this is a topic of discussion amongst the devs. We will see, I guess. The rail system as it stands now isn't too bad, it surely represents the effort Schema-nyan and the others put into fleshing it out before it hit release, but like most things in Starmade it can be improved, and the devs know this, so just have some faith that Ceiling Cat will guide our favorite feline programmer in the right direction, nya? :schema:
