The idea is to make cargo adds mass to our ships.

Currently we can build universal ship which can do anything. If cargo would adds mass to our ship then cargo/trade ships will need far more jump drives and hyperflux thrusters it would force players to use more types of ships.

Agreed, though it would require a smoother cargo moving interface to not be a royal pain in the ass.

would be nice if storages could also "unite", though for that they should have a max load, which could be very high(4D storage), if all the storages would work like one, if connected, then you could make transporter ships, which would need cargo bays for storages, and then they would look like transporters also

Isn't that how it works right now?

No, currently we have almost bottomless boxes with limited slots, resulting in some 15-20 boxes carrying alnost infinite amount of blocks. Certainly enough to handle a couple of players' whole wealth.

What he (probably) means is having storage of dozens or hundreds of boxes you don't have to access individually, and thus making it possible to have much lower capacity per storage block. Resulting in cargo ships etc we usually see in space along with warships.

what I meant is that, for example, each storage could carry 10K mass, and could be connected so you could have 1 storage carry 1M mass if you wanted. allowing cargobays of whatever size you want/can fit into the space.

I am all for the idea but for it to make sense, object would have to start having certain size/weight stats so there'd be difference between dropping in storage a stack of 200 circuit boards, 200 feathers and 200 bars of some super-dense metal.

they should increase the mass same as it would to place them as part of the ship
