Can we please just simply give core blocks more thrust?

I mean, is there anyone here that doesn't drop a core to get around in that doesn't immediately stop and add a power generator and a thruster block to it to make the classic 3 block pod?

If we're going to continue on the course of having walking speed be all we get when outside of the core, then can we simply make a single core more maneuverable? If everyone is building the exact same default "just gotta go over there to grab something" 3 block pod, can't we just make the capabilities of that into the capabilities of the default pod?

Is there actually some compelling reason why the core currently handles like a drunken cow by itself?

Because otherwise that's free stats. Hopefully we can get a jetpack soon for the astronaut rather than giving free thrust and power to the core -which isn't a concern for the core itself, but does have concerns for small ships.

While I can't wait for jet-packs the amount of thrust needed to be added to a core would probably insubstantial on every ship other than a skid racer. Hell even then it may be enough that they won't need thrusters. We used to be able to escape gravity with a core but now it seems the effects of gravity were increased so this is no longer the case, hell I'm having trouble lifting off in ships that had no trouble before the rail update.

So don't give it the free power, just give it the thrust it would have if it had the 1 thruster and the block to power it.

I mean, just what kind of ship are we talking about where the presence or absence of 1 lousy thruster's worth is a make or break deal?

the size of the ship is irrelevant anyway... all ships will have the same bonus so I really dont see how it makes any difference to the game at all Other than making life easier when using cores. I think this is especially needed now with the rail update as I am using LOADS more cores than before because each new rail needs a new entity to dock to it

Its interesting how the core thrust is hard coded in, but the core energy cap, shield cap, shield regen are not.

Considering the core counts for very little mass I don't think it adds much thrust. The zip you get from adding two blocks is massive so I suspect the thrust is very tiny and even doubling it would be noticeable for the core, but not the ship.

Can we get the conversation back on track please?
Let's look at it from a final game perspective: Getting from point a to point b will be more convenient with a jetpack. As for moving around the components of a ship... I feel like for that you might as well put a couple of thrusters on and then erase them.
