Hidden Ai turrets

    Would it be possible to program via in game logic, an AI turret to pop out of the side of a ship while enemies are near, and then pop back in when they're gone? I've not very experience with logic in this game, but I would really like to have this on my ship.

    Currently no. Logic activation when enemies are near is a requested feature as well as the ability to activate and deactivate turret AI. You can, however, use rails to build turrets that extend from the hull and using the structure tab re-center them before you retract them but it all has to be done manually. Of course hidden turrets may attempt to track targets and jam mechanisms.

    Can you activate and deactivate Bobby AIs with logic? If so why not just put Wireless circuits on the turrets?

    Then if you build the turrets smartly (Maybe have the forward biased for example) then you can either pull them back in no matter which angle they are at, or you target something like an asteroid then pull them back in after you turn them off. Never tried turned Bobby AI on and off with logic so that's the pivot point on this idea.

    It's a requested feature but not actually in the game.

    Does this work, my tests done with area triggers on or set off by docked entities has not gotten any results.

    It was a damned good idea, shame it didn't work.

    Set up a little radar dish turret that just swivels around to point at stuff and act as the early warning system would have been perfect.
