Figured it would be nice to actually have a chance to show off my current build, as its a big one.

Started off just making a nice bridge, as most of my ships have been very exterior and systems central builds, never wasted much space on interior RP stuff. So, I just sat down and started building a bridge, which ended up very Star Trek styled.

    Bridge 1.jpg
Eventually I want to put some ASCII art on the displays I'm using for the main viewscreen. Make a nice little planet down in the corner, some stars, maybe another ship in orbit.

    Bridge 2.jpg

Added some logic to make a Red Alert mode to kill the overhead lights and activate some chase lights around the walls.
    Bridge 3.jpg

All the glass consoles are placeholders for when I eventually get the actual systems installed, so weapons computers and the like will be right there on the bridge.

    Added an observation lounge.
    Bridge 4.jpg

There's even an ugly little bathroom through that plex door.

Once the bridge was finished, had to figure out what kind of Trek vessel it would be. Went digging through my original designs folder, and found this one.

    Concept.jpg

Ship concept I did a quick model job of a few years ago as a side project just to work out some layouts.

Decided "Okay, I've got everything laid out in the model the way I want it, and I've got a bridge module made, I can just scale the rest of the ship off the bridge!" Yeah, downside to making big luxurious bridges, it means some serious scale for the rest of the ship.

On the up side, the view from the observation lounge window is going to be spectacular...

Saucer there is just over 350 m wide.

I'm on a 1x vanilla server, so mining enough Sapsun to make all this adv white armor takes forever, but I think it'll be worth it when I finally get it all finished.

Sweet Jeebus it takes a lot of sapsun to make this thing!
However, I take pride in knowing that I am building this by hand, block by block, instead of cheating with SMEdit.

Had the best moment with it tonight as well.

Discussion on chat about how many jump modules you needed for optimal jumps, and I mentioned the mass of this thing and that I'd need a jump system the size of a house to get it to move.

One of the guys that had seen it went "Wait, that thing is a SHIP?!?"

Now that is good for the old ego!

Image2.jpg Not entirely happy with some of the curves on the secondary hull, but I'll tweak them later.

Anyone want to help me name this ship?

Looking for something a bit grandeous and majestic sounding, without being flat out bravado. I've been leaning towards naming it the Dawnguard, although the Daybreaker is running close behind. Other names I've considered but put behind those two are the Starlight, the Majestic, and the Little Pony (just so I could say "Hold on, let me go get my Little Pony" and "Oh you're just mad because you got your ass beat by my Little Pony.").

Image7.jpg Each docked generator is soft capped, and pouring in about 3 million energy per discharge. Took a few minutes with the clock pulse activation switch to get them on as close to opposite cycles as I could, so that they don't overlap. One of them is always transferring energy. I'm thinking I'll probably need two more of these, probably put one in each nacelle.

Image5.jpg Nothing fancy, just a big empty shuttle bay at the moment, with a corridor heading back into the ship that will lead to main engineering. Has a side ramp spiraling up to that shuttle bay control booth. I actually want to copy my chase light logic back here to apply to the shuttle bay doors so that they will split down the middle and slide open to each side.

Probably just end up zapping it open/closed, but it'll be there to show off, especially if I put the button for it somewhere on the bridge so I can say "Go around back to the shuttle bay, I'll open the doors for you" so that people have a front row seat for it.

Currently I'm planning on a bridge, sick bay, main engineering, the shuttle bay, most likely a couple of quarters and a 10 Forward style rec area for internal decor space. Really looking forward to main engineering, I'm going to be using that chase light logic (again) to create a pulsing warp core like the one from TNG. Just gotta get the underbelly in place to see where the most space for that big column is going to be.

Instead of going out and mining for yet more sapsun, I worked on starting the rounding a bit. Mostly just the back end around the docking bay, bit around the impulse engine housings, and gave the saucer some attention. Seeing as how I did it by hand from just a single circle from Build Helper, it was kind of square on top. Its still a little squarish, but I got most of it out.

Very good work so far, but that bridge placement hurts me on a personal level. You could've relocated it to where the battle bridge would/might be on whatever ship you're building.

    It's optimally placed for core-drilling.

Speaking of, have you began thinking of how to shield this thing?

Its a capitol ship. If the shields fail completely, its already over. Anything that can drop the shields that are going to be on this thing would only be delayed by a few seconds at best to have to blast into the center of the ship. If I'm crippled enough that my shields are down and I can't jump out of the system, what good is sitting around waiting for one or two more explosive missiles to hit to finish me off?

So I'll stick with the aesthetic of the source material for the design. Bridge is sitting up on the top of the saucer, exposed, protected only by the ship's shields (and the adv armor, several more layers of things, etc).

Having to take a bit to build a new mining ship.
Old one was great against pirates, had so much shielding that they couldn't even ding my shields enough for me to see it. Problem was, the mining array was so huge it required docked power generators to run it.

That thing about not being able to tell when pirates are shooting you? Yeah, missile pirates were blowing my generators out through radius damage without me even realizing it.

So screw it, rebuilding it as a borg cube with lots of empty space to keep the docked reactors far away from the outer hull.

Honestly, I think the secondary hull is too chunky, but I'm not going to change it now. Just gotta finish up the underside and slap some nacelles on this thing, and rough hull work will be finished!

...then I get to spend the next month putting in wedges, heptas, and everything else to smooth it out. Isn't THAT going to be fun?

    Final dimensions are 355m x 745m x 121m.

Currently I need to finish the rest of the nacelles, fill in the bottom of the saucer, add some docked power generators to the nacelles, and then get to work on all of the retracting turrets. Oh, and add the manual fire photon torpedo launchers. One thing I'm looking forward to redoing are the docked power generators though. With the wireless logic block, I can rig up logic in the ship itself to have one clock pulse that makes all the generators stagger their fire. So if I end up with 4 generators, 2 of them will always be firing at all times, and as soon as they go into cooldown the other two instantly pick up.

Currently she's sitting at just over 300k blocks for pretty much just hull, the RP rooms, some thrusters for when I need to undock to adjust something, and the salvage array behind the main deflector dish.

Had a great idea for something to do with the turrets. I already have my Red Alert mode with the red chase lights, I can tie that into the logic to raise/lower the turrets. So going to Red Alert actually activates the turrets and puts the ship into full combat mode. Standing down from red alert puts it back into exploration mode.

Oh, and for the time being I have settled on a name. The USS Pale Horse.
"And lo, I witnessed a pale horse. The name of it's rider was Death, and all of Hell followed behind him."

Been tasked with designing and building a new spawn station for the server.

Built a sheath around a shop, and made an animated topper for it, but still trying to figure out what the rest of the station is going to look like.

    Image7.jpg

The planet rotates one direction, the outer ring rotates the opposite direction, and the inner rings each rotate at 90 degree angles to the ring they are attached to. Figured if I wanted something to say "home", there's nothing like good old planet Earth to do so.

Station building is much more enjoyable than working on that giant ship. Its nice to be able to take a break from that thing.

Little hard to tell from these, but the main hull is made of Blue Rock, which I am freaking SWIMMING in due to eating a red planet whole. Image19.jpg

    Image17.jpg

Still working on the biodome sections on the outer ring (which rotates around the main station), and the tower sections in that ring will be where the main turrets go. Central core is sitting on over 1 million energy/second, the outer ring is generating the same, both of which are sitting on at least 30 million energy each, and the turrets are all going to be outfitted in Overdrive modules for maximum punch.

Just because this is a spawn station doesn't mean its going to sit back and be helpless when a griefer decides to be an ass.

Also building it to be a fully functional station, in that it has fully linked and enhanced factories with permission blocks for newbies to have some crafting areas they can use until they're big enough to start building their own bases.

I'm loving thing so far, I'm going to have to spawn myself a copy!

you need to turn up your maximum chunks if you are getting render issues at that scale :)
[DOUBLEPOST=1432221390,1432220139][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I see your getting the squared cirlces issue. You might want to redo the top of the saucer, its very nasty when that happens :)
