Vaalxian conglomerate Amberclad-class heavy cruiser

Vaalxian conglomerate Amberclad-class heavy cruiser EXTERIOR finished

A heavy ship-of-the-line built with RP and looks in mind. Armed with a battery of four heavy cannons (cannon-beam-explosive), an ion lance (beam-beam-ion), two vertical torpedo tubes (missile-beam-explosive) and a lot of beam-cannon turrets. Defenses include advanced armour with an underlying layer of hull, point-defense turrets and heavy shielding.

NOTE: the interior and some logic bits are still work in progress. However, the ship is otherwise fully functional.

The exterior of the ship looks amazing. The use of the slap splattered around the hull of the ships gives it this feeling as if it is a ship that has seen quite a few battles. Great use of red and lighter grey paint which is starting to crumble adds to this feeling. The use of the brown for piping looks great as always and breaks up the grey a bit. The ship looks like how i personally imagine what a space pirate ship looks like.
The overall shape is great and the exterior would earn this ship a solid 4/4.5.

The interior as mentioned is still WIP which shows. everything looks very empty, bland, lacks detail, feels out of place or is simply missing. In my opinion every room still requires quite a lot of work to be done, mainly on the detailing of the walls or simply filling up the room with more furniture, equipment etc. Currently 'White light bars' are used to light up every room and floor placed in big line on the ceiling. i would advice changing this(if you weren't already) by perhaps using a more subtle lighting system(IE put the below the floor with metal grill above them.
Lastly, 2 floors filled with systems and computers seems a bit excessive for a ship this size. you could try to put em all on one floor and i would advice to divide the bigger floors into smaller areas.
In its current state I would give the interior a 1.5

The systems could use some work as well. The weapon systems are unusual making them quite fun and there is a large enough power supply to support them. The ship looks rather fast and streamlined with a lot of engines on the back but it only has a thrust to mass ratio of 0.3 giving it a max speed of 57.3 causing the ship to feel very sluggish. There is a shield of 8.7 million which is very good but it is seems very unbalanced compared to the very low shield generation of only 17k.
    I give the systems a 2.5.

I give this ship a 3/5 but with some work on the systems and a bit more work on the interior it could easily become an amazing ship. Looking forward to a finished update.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

This was my first time going for a full-on star wars -esque 'scrappy' greebling, and I think it turned out fairly well. I didn't intend for the red and light gray markings to be crumbling paint though, I was aiming for Tau-like alien markings. ;)

I have to admit I made a one very big mistake while planning the interiors - I made all the floors just 1 block in thickness, so using any embedded lights or features is a royal pain. Nevertheless I've gone too far to change it at this point. The lightning is certainly an issue, but I'll try to add some variation going forward! As for two separate bridges, that's an old habit of mine - a gunnery bridge and a navigation bridge. Could probably meld them together, but again, I made this mistake early on - I lack the will to be changing the positions of those weapon computers anymore.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not great at systems, so they're understandably a bit lopsided. As this ship is classified as a heavy cruiser, the sluggishness is somewhat deliberate - but I'm planning on making a stripped-down light cruiser version of this ship, with less guns, more engines and an extra jumpdrive. That ought to be a lot more fun to fly around. ;) The shielding is likewise a deliberate choice - I wanted to retain as much power regen for weapons as I could, so I went with capacitors over rechargers. Also note that there is a 25% passive punch-through effect to help when the shields are down.
    Sexy vertical ship :D
