Quite by accident, happened to join a server where they were using my pirate ships. They didn't know when I joined, and neither did I until I faced a fleet of them.
I have got here a new pack with some very slight tweaks to the original 5 ships. 4 of them have slightly more power reactors and cores. 3 of them have slightly less firepower, mainly because a missile burst drained all their power immediately. (They were pre -that- update!)
I have also taken off the old magnetic docking and replaced turrets and cargo pods with rail docker ones... The cargo pods on the Type B corvette now contain an actual 3x3 cargo area too.
Oh, and it looks like the fleet just got a Cruiser... Not ridiculous firepower, but half decent shields Ion and Pull defence and mucho power, so should take a while to chew up, if you're in an early ship. Mean nose cannon, but only fires in very short bursts, so you are fairly safe, unless your GM spawns 5 of them...
In fact, I am giving the capital ships (Oh, more may be coming if you want) some very specific weaknesses. If you don't let your players examine them too closely, it might take a few battles to figure how to exploit them.
