Trident Turret Pack

    Trident Turret Pack 1.0

    Game version
    v0.203.175
Over the last few years we at Trident created a fair few somewhat standardised turrets. All these turrets have a low profile look by having a large "internal" area to provide additional system space. Due to some interest we (Plaz/crazyf22raptor, Jake_Lancia and myself) decided to create a turret pack. This pack contains templates for bases of varying sizes (called S0 to S5) as well as turrets to put onto those docks. The templates come in a blank version and in a slightly more detailed "Trident" version which you may want to treat more as a starting point or inspiration. The turret blueprints come with a three letter acronym describing their purpose, either it describes the armament (First Letter main, second letter secondary, third letter effect) or AMS in case of anti missile turrets.

    Stinger
An old classic turret from long ago. This little guy has been on a lot of Trident ship designs as we made before missile HP was an issue to worry about when designing turrets. It was a simple concept, maximum fire rate minimal profile, without taking up too much exterior space. Somewhat obsolete these days but still used every now and then because they are so economic and easy to install.

    Slinger
This turret is technically a custom build for a ship Plaz has yet to post to CC, it's extended primarily for aesthetic reasons, but the small amount of extra firepower in the same space made it somewhat worthy of consideration for posing. Not much to be said with this.

    Blowpipe
We originally made this turret as a replacement for the much larger surface mounted turrets the Gladius class use, since Missile HP has changed how we make PD turrets, the Blowpipe was basically an upscale for the slinger in function, keeping its simple and accurate with the single barrel. It was fun to make though as this little guy has some detection equipment detail ideas that we tried out on it. Parts like the rangefinder we added on top of the barrel which gives it a little more of a believable look.

    Arbalest
The Arbalest was conceived as a heavier alternative to the Blowpipe for an as of yet unfinished project. Technically it is derived from a pretty old Trident Beam Turret, though it differs significantly.

    Arambai

The Arambai was purpose made for this pack, I thought it would be nice to have multiple example turrets for most sizes. As an additional challenge, I decided to go down the asymmetric route, I think it came out nicely.

    Harpoon
This turret originally came about as the Gladius' purpose built main battery. It began it's life as a ubiquitous turret (it even found its way back onto the Gladius) by adaptation for a since abandoned project and marked the start of my involvement with all things Trident turrets. It since has undergone another face lift to bring it up to date with current aesthetic standards.

    Ribauldequin

This was a silly idea after completion of the Arbalest. Since the Arbalest was conceived as a heavier AMS, the thought of a super heavy (and arguably pointless) AMS entered my head. In the end, this resulted in an octuple output Harpoon derived AMS turret, inspired by an octuple 40mm Pom-Pom mount.

    Pilum
The Pilum came into existence parallel to the idea for this very pack. We figured that we kinda didn't have a modern beam output which was also visually distinct from cannons, so I experimented on a S3 turret (it's a good size for experiments, small enough to be manageable but not so small that you run into issues all the time).

    Ballista
The start of this might sound familiar to you. The Ballista originally came about as the Exodus' purpose built main battery, then found its way onto a since abandoned project by me (I really should stop abandoning all these projects), got modified significantly and has been used in a lot of projects since.

    Bombard
The origin of this turret is somewhat similar to the Ribauldequin. It started as a silly idea in my head (this time "what if the turret was needlessly big?") and turned into a finished build. Is it impractical? Probably, yes. Are big guns fun? Also yes. Was it fun to build? Again, yes.

All the screenshots use the "Trident" base of the corresponding size, so you have all the tools at hand to recreate these 8and maybe integrate them into a ship, or use them as a starting point for your own turret building journey.
