    --------------------------------------------

The ORBA Fleetworks Sparrow Class Corvette is a small but highly potent multirole military corvette, designed to fit multiple missions including security patrol, anti-piracy, convoy escort, frontier defense, and joint fleet operations. This is the export variant of the Block 7 Sparrow (Block 7E), which is slightly downgraded from the mainline Sparrow but is nonetheless a remarkably capable ship for its size!

    History:
Originally developed in 2292 by ORBA Fleetworks as the first product of the United Aptha Republic's (UAR) 10 Year MRRAD (Military Restructuring, Research And Development) plan initiated in 2288, the Sparrow Class Corvette was designed from the ground-up as a resilient combat vessel. With a wide spread of desired applications, from anti-piracy to frontier patrol and fleet operations, the Sparrow had to be able to take a beating and punch above its weight. Early models were well engineered but experienced a variety of deficiencies in the field, prompting the development of subsequent revisions ("Blocks"), culminating in the current Block 7 of 2294. Interest expressed by various extra-national entities in acquiring the Sparrow Class initiated the process of preparing an export variant that could be approved by the original contract holder (the UAR) which produced the Block 7E, which has been slightly downgraded while retaining all critical features and preserving primarily the survivability of the ship.

    Features:
This ship was designed to be as functionally effective as possible while retaining a full RP-ready interior. It also comes with a multitude of logic features!

The Sparrow features one OPT-2411 Engine with vectored thrust and enhanced gravitational momentum angling as its primary means of both impulse and jump propulsion. The enhancements to momentum angling yield an increase in turn rate (level 3). This engine couples with the augmented jump drive to provide automatic jump recharging.

The hull consists of homogenized armor plating, which has been positioned and angled to provide maximum frontal protection, allowing it to absorb a remarkable amount of damage from the front. All critical weak points in the hull have been reinforced, including the bridge, which is partially recessed into the hull for minimal frontal and side exposure and aspect. The default paint job is dark grey signifying its role as a military ship, however the variant employed by the UAR sports standard UARN red stripes from the nose to the engine. The hull is rated for atmospheric flight, however it is not advisable to land the Sparrow on a planetary surface without sufficient docking facilities.

The ship is equipped with a pair of ORBA Vita Class Pods (MkIII C) for emergency ship evacuation and shuttling personnel between ships, stations, and planetary surfaces. The pods are located ventrally, just aft of the primary docking ports. Each pod is suited for 9 personnel, and can be launched by going to the pod bay, opening the exterior door, entering the pod, and undocking it.

The Sparrow also has a pair of hardpoints equipped with ORBA-made Watcher Mk1 turrets for Anti-Missile Point Defense, however those hardpoints can be re-equipped with other small turrets. The UAR variant carries a pair of the larger Defender Mk1 Point Defense Turrets, for example.

The ship also offers a pair of wireless connection points linked with a ship remote, allowing the operator to remotely toggle turret activation. This can be found in the engineering bay on the port wall.

The corvette also possesses a pair of Universal Standard Docks on either side of the ship, with good clearance for flexible docking. Each port also has an airlock linked to buttons with public permission, to allow guests access to the ship (these can be easily replaced if not desired).

On said docking ports there are also standard blinking navigational lights (red to port, green to starboard) which can be disabled via an activator on the bridge.

Alongside the ship's state-of-the-art reactor is a set of state-of-the-art radiator panels. Positioned to optimally cool the ship, the panels dynamically activate (an orange glow) according to the power consumption at the given moment. This is dictated by the ship's internal clock, so if the running lights are not blinking when active and the radiator doesn't appear to be functioning, be sure to make use of the "clock reset" button near the reactor at the aft starboard side of engineering until they are working again. The radiators utilize the same clock as the running lights).

Also at the aft dorsal of the ship is a pair of small shield emitters. The ship's shields have enhanced recharge speed to minimize downtime on regeneration, which is helpful when outnumbered by smaller vessels.

Linked to the shields is an automatic Red Alert system which can also be manually activated from the bridge. When shields are below 100% capacity, the Red Alert system will enable and red lights will blink throughout the ship (excluding the bridge), allowing the crew to be alerted rapidly to any enemy contact.

The bridge also features an activator to toggle "Spotting Mode", which darkens critical areas of the ship (and replaces the light with a red glow) to aid in the visual spotting of enemy craft. This reduces the interference to natural night vision that may otherwise be brought by the harsher standard lighting.

The ship features a long range sensor and communications suite, which does support the integration of various electronic warfare functionalities such as enhanced scanners or stealth, however these are not present on the export variant by default.

The Mess/Meeting Hall features a standard ORBA food replicator and also holds the ship's transporter, which has two pads.

The ship has a fully stocked medibay, fitted with the latest and greatest medical operator and other life-saving equipment to treat injuries in combat.

The Sparrow's primary armament is an armor-piercing plasma cannon which is very good at drilling down to enemy reactors. The secondary armament is a pair of homing plasma missiles, which are invaluable in shooting down fighters and punching larger holes in enemy ship systems and hull.

The ship also has a plethora of cameras throughout the ship for a variety of operations; standard flight, docking, and long-range gunnery, for example.
