    SigmaSec SF-1A2 Outlaw 2015-08-26

    Foreword
This is my first upload. I know it's not perfect and not the best looking one, but I want You to test it a bit, provide some constructive criticism (I didn't test it against any player made ship, only against the AI pirates in SP).
For one, I have no idea and couldn't find how to name triggers (buttons in this instance). The one to the left controls ladder (to climb the ship from ground), the right one controls landing gear and lights (for landing on entities without rail dock). It's tricky, but you can use them in flight (waiting for hotbar assignable buttons), just be sure to be seated in the pilot's seat, so you won't end outside the ship when you hit 'R'. So, without further ado:
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present you the...

    SigmaSec SF-1A2 Outlaw

Not long after SigmaTec Corp. begun mining operations its ships came under attack from dreaded space pirates. The loss of almost a dozen mining ships and heavy personnel casualties led to establishment of a special unit within the corporation, today known as The SigmaTec Security Division, or SigmaSec for short.
With little to no experience in combat ship design, SigmaSec struggled with many difficulties like power consumption and insufficient armament. But there was not much time to work on most of these issues, as miners' lives where in danger everyday. Soon, SigmaSec presented its first space fighter design ever: the XSF-1. It was rushed and lacking in many aspects. Space tests were crushing: it was slow, maneuverability was bad and mounted unguided missiles practically ineffective against small moving targets like pirate fighters. It also had no scanners or ECM, which could prove to be fatal in real combat. Few weeks later SigmaSec came up with an improvement: XSF-1A1. Basic ECM and scanner were installed, power generation capability expanded and new heat seeking missiles introduced. Next in the family was XSF-1A2, which saw additional power generators mounted and added ability to dock to rail type docks. Its armament was deemed satisfactory. There was, of course, room for improvement: shield recharge rate was low and maneuverability still not the best, but the mass of the ship already exceeded first designs by 50 tons! and it was considered good enough to deal with small raiding parties. It entered service under SigmaSec SF-1A2 Outlaw designation. Pilots nicknamed it Desperado.

So you asked for criticism, here goes.

First off the size. if you are going to make a ship that size don't even bother with weapons because they will not be as strong or powerful as the Isanth's supplied in the game.

Secondly, nice ship shape towards the back, however you should really try and mix it up at the front. The long flat 'snout' of the ship makes it look like a toy.

As for the colour scheme red and yellow arnt really the best mix.

However its nice to see a bit of logic and I like the cot pit design. I'm also pleased that you managed to fit that many systems onto such a small ship so well done with that too.

My advice is to try and build something about 5-10 times bigger, it will teach you a lot about how you want to build and a lot about what makes a good ship in terms of weapons.

Bit harsh but you asked for it!

Thanks for downloading and for the review!
I tried to make it small, so it would be cheap and light as a fighter should be. But you might be right about building bigger, since resources aren't that hard to find. My only problem with bigger ships are turrets. Rail Turret Axis system gives me a headache when building 2-Axis Type turrets. They tend to be huge, and if they look good, they stop rotating on one axis (because blocks, well, block them on one of the sides).
The coulour scheme makes it look plastic, 100% with you on that. Honestly, I didn't think much on it ealier. Though, all gray ships don't look to good either. Maybe I will experiment with camo patterns, like navy ones, blue-white-gray stripes? Going to check it out.
As for the weapons: with RJam on it was enough to deal with the Isanth's. Took a few minutes, but dealt with them. That's something ;)

PS. I have a lighter prototype (almost twice lighter!), something close to a flying wing (which is not helpful in space, duh). It's a bit weaker, but I could put almost all I wanted to have in it. I could refit it to be an AI drone.
