SUPPORT ARMOURED MISSILE CRUISER (SAMC) TYPHOON
by Red Circle Shipyard
DESCRIPTION
The SSBN Typhoon was a Terran Cold War age submarine sporting 6 torpedo tubes and 20 ballistic missiles. It is the largest submarine ever built, and counted with living accommodations for the crew.
Due to this particular quality, after having its interior stripped, this antique could be retrofitted with modern-age engines, shielding and systems and become the Support Armoured Missile Cruiser Typhoon.
The sturdy hull easily matches the resilience offered by modern advanced armour. A crew of one is sufficient to man this beast, leaving room for a comfortable and modern captain's quarters and a small medbay. It still counts with it's original armaments, albeit modernised.
Buyer is warned: despite being lightyears ahead of its original incarnation, the Typhoon retains some of its original characteristics. Submarines were never designed to be spacious or highly manoeuvrable, and while we at Red Circle consider its design elegant and understated, others might consider it simplistic or outdated.
This is a beautifully preserved hull, and breaching it to include turrets was a crime we couldn't bring ourselves to commit. It can hold its own against pirates thanks to an array of swarm missiles, but if deployed in battlefield, it is more suited to a support role, using its several long-range missiles to attack while still close to the protection of larger ships' turrets and drones.
STATS
Mass: 7 850.5 (58 022 blocks)
L: 200m, H: 33m, W: 49m
Power: 13.4M (1.1 Me/sec)
Thrust: 6 351.1
Shields: 550k (54 ks/sec)
HP: 4.1M structural, 1.3M armour (1.1 Penalty)
SYSTEMS
Defensive:
• Ion (60% effect, 3923 blocks)
• Piercing (25% effect, 436 blocks)
• Punch-through (25% effect, 436 blocks)
• Radar Jammer
• Cloaker (cosmetic only, <1s)
• Jump drive (~45s, 1 block)
Offensive:
• Scanner (1 block)
• Jump Inhibitor x 2 (1 block each)
• 2 x 6 Target Lock Missiles array (72Mi/72Db/72Od each array)
• 2 Nuke Missiles array (24Mi/24Dp/24Od)
• 6 Dumb Fire Missiles array (1028Mi/1028Ca/1028Od)
• 18 Heat Seeking Missiles array w/ auto-fire switch (216Mi/216Mi/216Od)
KNOWN ISSUES
• Docking system not installed
• Probably needs more wedges
• Punch through and piercing effects show in the HUD as
• Manual and auto-fire systems for the swarms seem to exclude each other
This is my first ship, so I'm sure more experienced builders and players will be able to find a lot more issues than these.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the auto-fire function is not working, connect the AND gate near the front end of the maintenance corridor to the swarm system. It is the central computer in the second blast door, counting from the back of the same corridor, between an overdrive and a missile systems.
