The PS-2 is a "stealth scout, a vessel primarily designed to gather intelligence or to perform covert operations. Given the power requirements of the cloaking device in tandem with the sensor scramblers required, an new breed of power system was urgently needed. Enter our engineering department, who came up with the smart idea of a magnetically contained matter/antimatter reactor. This reactor needed a huge amount of cooling, and it was decided to leave the bottom of the vessel mainly unprotected to both shed heat and reduce mass.
The PS-2 is fully capable of cloaking, jamming, charging its jump drive and traveling at overdriven engine speeds without breaking a sweat, although it is noted that this bumps up against the limit of its stable capabilities. In addition, it comes with a thick capacitive shield with a decent capacity - just in case the pilots run into any unexpected company.
While its interior is very spartan, consisting of two bunks, an airlock and a bathroom, many pilots see this as the epitome of their flying careers. In fact, it was these intrepid pilots who kept the PS-2 from simply being a block consisting of a reactor, thruster, and a whole lot of heat rejection. Our lead pilot famously quoted "Why fly it if it's ugly?" Why indeed?
We hope you'll enjoy this vessel and eventually add it to your lineup. Until then, best of luck from the entire staff (of two) at Bephinius-Per Yards.
