PMC Industries has been using the Prospector to survey new asteroid belts even before their Triple Seven rigs were out of the shipyards. A small, fast, and reliable little ship, the Prospector is able to scout out new mineral deposits and take samples back for analysis.
Structurally, the Prospector is not meant to take much punishment, relying on it's shields and speed to get away from pirates or other disgruntled locals that might attack it. Though it does have a jump drive, it's slower charge rate relegates jumping to long distance travel as opposed to a means of escape.
The Prospector has 2 turret hard points, and the stock model comes equipped with a Multi-Missile Pod and a Dual AMS turret. Both are intended to be used defensively, and mainly to aid the ship to escape from attackers.
