Clearance: Eyes Only
Pursuant to directive WHISPER DAWN, recon units have been surveilling any contact with signatures matching those of the recently discovered 'Phantom' ships. Their efforts have revealed a new class of Phantom, designation Eta. We have finally gathered enough data about this vessel to allow our intelligence division to assemble the attached approximation of the ship.
Like the other Phantoms, this vessel does not have the same machinery or crew compartments that we would expect of a spacecraft. All of the components of the Phantom are highly integrated and utilize physics and materials science unknown to us, which makes determining the purpose of certain structures difficult if not impossible. This has led to speculation that the ship itself is either a non-organic life form or a robotic shell occupied by an alien intelligence.
Observation of the Eta class suggests that it fills or is used to fill the role of an attack corvette, similar to the Alpha class. Deployed in swarms, these vessels appear to rely on numbers and speed to take down their targets. They carry no on-board point defense weapons, relying on other ships in their formation to provide coverage. Their primary armament consists of one thermal beam cannon and four guided missile launchers.
