This is the first ship of a lineup that I will be using for the Faction Competition. Firstly it is produced by the Orci Magna Conglomerate, which is a faction of advanced peoples that focus on exploration rather than all out combat ships. I come up with the name Orci Magna by using the Latin translation for "Great Traveler."
The Contributor Class light transport was brought into production recently after the Council of Internal Trade Affairs found that the corporate sector was lacking well rounded transports that could make long trips in dangerous space, without the need for an escort. Plans were laid down for a ship that could carry 10 of the Conglomerates standard shipping containers, decent armor and armament, and have the ability to make multiple jumps before stopping to recharge. The contract was eventually given to the Tharsus Shipworks company after their design seemed to match up with the specifications given.
The end result was a freighter with dimensions of 139 m long, 75 m wide and 30 m high. The ship featured a tri-core warp system that allowed for three successive jumps before a recharge was required, unfortunately the Tharsus Shipworks company only had access to slow recharging systems for their war cores, which results in long recharges to the warp cores. Armament was relatively heavy for a freighter, featuring two heavy laser cannons with a decent fire rate and good damage for its class and three Anti-Missile turrets. The shielding was rated 71,000 and armor came to 737,000. The generator on board is able to put out under 900,000 power. Standard cruise speed was around 40 m/s, however an overdrive supercharger raises it to 56.9 m/s.
