This ship came during, and after, the construction of the Athena class light cruiser. I wanted something that would be a strict, military recon vessel, with powerful sensors, and adequate main armament for its weight class. It has a spartan interior, meaning that there aren't any luxuries, and the only purpose of the ship, is strict military service.
The design can be quite unusual at first glance, as the heavy missile turrets are located on the bottom of the ship, instead of the top. This ship is also meant to be an older workhorse for the entire fleet, which means that there can be various variants of the ship design, ranging to Cargo transport, to Mining operations. It does share at least one design choice with the Athena, and that is the frontal deflector dish, in the nose of the hull.
Room List
1 Bridge
1 Medical bay
1 Captain Quarters
2 Crew Quarters
1 Engineering Room
1 Computer Core/Core Room
2 Transporter Pads
2 Standard Docking Ports
Very Very Very Minimal cargo storage, located in main engineering.
This was done intentionally, because I wanted to also give it the ability of light orbital bombardment capability, if it was needed in that capacity. The heavy missile turrets were also meant to scare off potential pirates, in limited engagements. The Aries also comes equipped with 4 dual point defense turrets, and 1 single point defense turret, to give it adequate protection, from projectile based weaponry.

The ship is quite small, but despite this, it has the highest speed out of all of the ships I currently have released to the content section. Even though it might have trouble surviving against more powerful foes, in groups it would be able to protect mining vessels long enough, for them to escape into hyperspace. My goal is to always try and bring a synthesis of RP elements, and combat elements to my ship designs, as a way to bring them to life, and give them each their individual histories.
