This C-class variant of the Harbinger MKII was made when a major flaw was uncovered in the original design. It was unable to fit comfortably in a modest-sized hangar bay. Our engineers decided to remove the ventral gun, leading to higher speeds, and more importantly, a smaller profile.
Of course, this does reduce the DPS, but it does stabilize the power grid, allowing the craft to simultaneously fire, jam and maneuver without effecting the power levels. It also has the side effect of making the explosive effect more concentrated.
