I remember going to the cinema to watch this film when it came out in 1984 with a group of friends from school when I was 16! Love the overall design and the vasic shape is pretty much there.
I would give it 5 stars but it does have some minor flaws that spoilt it for me. Not the end of the world and probably easy fixes.
1. It seemed a little sluggish? I didn't check to see if I could inherrit any thrust from anywhere so maybe that might have helped?
2. The power balance is a little off. The four main turrets seemed to draw too much power from the main ship and this would sometime render the ships own weapons inoperable. If these turrets were more self sufficient it would be great.
3. No AMS? Unless I missed them I was hit by a couple of missiles and nearly lost the two upper turrets in the process. I know it might spoil the overall lines of the ship but a couple of low profile AMS turrets on the main turret mounts wouldn't go amiss.
4. The main ion cannon is deadweight once the targets shields are down. Personally I would reduce the ion effect to 80-90% so that some physical damage could be achieved, especially if you have this ship as AI/Fleet controlled (now there is a thought!)
If these issues were addressed I'd be happy to give this a solid 5* rating. The lack of images didn't help and some people might miss out on this little gem. I also downloaded it to see if you added the "Death Blossom" option!
I agree with your points and do feel it need some improvements.
I have a plan to add Death Blossom, but would have to loose some other weaponry. see how i go.
