Today Belgica Starship Engineering is proud to unveil our brand new light frigate, especially made for explorers, the Mercator-class.
While small for a frigate, with a mere 45 meters length, it nevertheless holds what's needed by most explorers, four powerful impulse thrusters, a scanner system, a radar jaùmmer to avoid being detected by roaming pirates, six small salvage beams for emergency resupply and, of course, a jump drive.
Being an exploration ship, it bears only light weaponry, namely four rapid-fire cannons, located under the bridge, ten long range light missiles, made to swarm and overwhelm an incoming pirate up to 4.8km away, and an automated civilian rapid-fire turret.
