ASI Blowfly Class Micro Scavenger

ASI Blowfly Class Micro Scavenger 1.0

The Blowfly Class Micro Scavenger has been developed from the popular and versitile Hyena Class Day One Scavenger.

While it could still be considered a Day One ship and could certainly fit this role superbly, it should perhaps be more suitable as a Day Two support ship. It has a damage pulse supported single beam salvage array and associated storage and cargo space. This makes it perfect for adding to a larger mining fleet to act as a clean up crew to get the single blocks and smaller clusters that larger salvagers tend to have trouble focussing on.

The Blowfly does lose the Jump Drive of the larger Hyena Class but does carry a Radar Jammer. The Blowfly is also designed to be a planetary explorer with its fixed tricycle landing gear and sufficient thrust to perform a vertical take off.

What a great mini-sized probe. Very interesting. It's balanced, but I feel like it's fairly useless, probably because of it's size. I don't know how this could be made better, but I'm sure there are some ways. Perhaps optimizing the salvage beam a bit? Using even lighter hull? Are two dockers really necessary? Would smaller landing feet do better? This is not yet the ultimate salvage stick.

The two dockers allow for both nose docking and pad docking. I have sent two of these along with a Hyena mining drone fleet and they work well picking off the odd blocks left behind. The single beam does let it down somewhat but it is what it is.
