Core Access Instructions:
The Challenge:
"Fri 10th: Light Fighter. (Not to exceed 200 mass and must have weapons and shielding. No turrets)
- A fun shortcut would be to redesign your harasser drone for manned flight. What exactly IS a fighter? Well capital ships have bridges. Small strike craft have flight decks. Freighters, and other mid sized craft would also have flight decks. Anything smaller has a cockpit. This is enough seating room for the crew and nothing else. They can be two, three, even four seater vessels. But there's no standing room. You pop open a port, sit down, and take off." - Warsong's April 2015 Build Challenge
The Ship:
Pictured: Regular version on left, Pirate version on right
Classification: Aerospace Superiority Fighter (Light)
Description: The Hawk-class Aerospace Fighter was Magnetar Industries' answer to the need for a ship capable of destroying the pirates' venerable Isanth Type-Zero strike craft. Lightweight and very maneuverable, this agile combat vehicle proved itself time and again against its larger quarry, able to take on any variant of the pirate vessel and fly away victorious.
Like the Raptor-class Aerospace Fighter Drone, the Hawk features forward-swept wings and powerful Synergistic Air-Breathing Rocket Engines for transatmospheric flight, allowing it to operate anywhere. Its SABREs are boosted by a powerful afterburner system, permitting speeds 40.4% faster than standard engines.
Its weapons consist of quad-linked semi-automatic armor-piercing cannons, which - while not as rapidly firing as the Raptor's twin guns - are perfectly capable of tearing their way right through hull and damaging vital systems underneath. The guided missile used by the Hawk is not as fast or quite as destructive (3,850 damage vs 4.5k), but improved loading mechanisms result in the Hawk launching much more often than its smaller drone brethren.
Like many combat vehicles, the Hawk is covered in standard-grade armor and protected by a 12k-rated energy shield. Squadrons of this vessel shall surely remove the pirate threat with ease.
Pictured: Pirate engine modifications
CAUTION: Reports have revealed that pirates have acquired Hawk-class Aerospace Fighters and modified their SABREs. Most notable are the additions of large radiators similar to those on the Isanth Type-Zero strike craft and the propulsion characteristics of the engines themselves, with a noticeable side effect of a differing glow.
Black market fuel injection systems have caused the Pirate Hawk's engines to constantly burn fuel, projecting forward thrust even when throttle controls have been taken out. These modifications often lead to overheating issues when installed on small craft, rendering them incompatible with the standard-issue Hawk's afterburners. Intelligence reports indicate these injectors are located at the rear of the craft, so a solid hit should disable them.
Overdrive Passive Effect: Removed
Push Passive Effect: 61 blocks / 79.4% Efficiency + Logic Activated

The zip file contains two versions of this craft:
- Regular version: This one is left unpainted and has the original overdrive effect. This is intended for player use.
- Pirate version: This one replaces the overdrive that AI can't use with a logic-driven push effect. The clock is active, so this craft will move once loaded. This one is intended for server admins and single-players to employ as AI pirate spawns.
Core Access Instructions:
- Enter the ship's cockpit via the glass door canopy.
- Aim your cursor at the corner edge between the faction module and the AI block floor.
