Weapons won't show in hot bar

I put the weapons computer/salvage computer down first, then the actual cannons. It says they're connected, but unless I do it when I build a ship for the first time (hit v and build) it doesn't show up in the hot bar at the bottom.

Do you mean they don't show up when in fly mode? also if so then click T and assign them to a key.

When in Build Mode, press T - and assign your computer to one of the hot-bar keys.
This is done because you can have more computers than slots
