We are a group of StarMade players living in Australia trying to establish a player base and server centered around regular events, competitions, and projects.​

We are currently hosting a small Australian based server and looking to improve the quality of game play the game currently provides by consistent community events. To achieve this we will be offering a (optional) subscription based service via Patreon to keep the server live and growing. This will allow subscribers access to exclusive events and content we will be creating using in game assets whilst not denying any content the game normally provides to those who do not wish to pay. We also intend to not have a 'pay-to-win' structure but instead have the benefits of subscription be extra content and small in game perks like exclusive monthly ship blue prints and the ability to spend faction points on a variety of different things.

Title says AMA, so I'm going to ask.

What server settings will you be using? What hardware? Any mass limits? Your description says frequent community events, but what about those who wish to simply play the game normally?

We currently use a virtual server hosted by a company called GameServers. It has 8gb allocation and unfortunately this means that right now there is a server limit of 1million blocks per entity. Community events will be free for all, for now, but anyone not wishing to partake can still carve out their own little slice of the galaxy. It wont be a massive disadvantage to not subscribe, but we need the coin to go to a full time dedicated server and we intend on making the events enjoyable and enticing enough to justify the small fee.
