I'd like to see some FTL in the game, and it wouldn't be that hard to implement.
I envision entering coordinates into a menu like the one that exists for navigation. The computer calculates the distance between my location and the desired location, and my available distance to warp is determined by how many warp core blocks I have. There would have to be a delay between hitting the "warp" button and actually warping to prevent massive ships "hit and runing" smaller ships. I propose a system wherein the larger the ship, the longer the warm up period. Once warped, you would have to wait for the warp core to recharge and store power from the ships power.
This would allow for faster travel, and with that comes the ability to make full use of a practically infinite universe when currently we can only reasonably make use of 100 sectors in any direction.
