    VR = Virtual Reality

    Add VR spheres, boxes, tubes between those and digital ways between them.

    VR Tubes have a fixed size. If your ship is too big for one, it is shown red.

    VR Boxes and spheres have to bigger than the tubes between them. or you can't create the tube. On resize, all tubes are deleted (warning "it will delete x tubes?"->ok? first)

    Give a name to all of these objects. You can only see a node if you have selected a connected node or nodes connected to this node (performance) and use them as a map.

    This overlay helps to navigate and orientate in sectors without the need to create physical (blocking, collision!) blocks and to manage your faction's assets.

    Basically, they are ghosted MEGA-Blocks, 8-32 times or larger than normal blocks.

    You can call one of those boxes "Construction-Box x" and maybe have an adjacent "Construction-Site x" or give names like "NeonSturm's docks", "4th rank docks" ...

    These overlays are not neccessarily stored on server, but synchronize between clients of the same faction. The server can help you managing a sync ofc.

    Maybe this gives you an idea of what I think:

    This idea would just limit movement, which is kinda the opposite idea of the game.

    I first thought you were suggesting a VR type overlay showing the sector boundries, which would be cool, imo

    All this stuff is non-colliding. purely visual. for orientation. On/off-able in clients.

    Organize your factory home, or just make the universe more lively with transparent 3D void-tubes.

    Use them for law enforcement configuration.

    Once we can make AI drones which automatically attack ships in sensor range of your station, you could set some tubes to be public, so nobody (except arch enemies) get attacked.

    Or setup drones to distribute automatically over joints/nodes in this tube-network to scout for allies which use distress signals and pirates/griefers on often-used trade routes (only player-sectors are calculated).

    The void-tubes could be used for autopiloting over secure trade routes (you will get alerted by scouts - if nodes connected to this voidtube have some scouts left - before the enemy scanners see you).

    Or you could just connect spawn nearby homebases and so forth creating a regional network to not have to look at coordinates every time but see nearby homes or player-shops if the players want that.
