Every time I create a new In-Game Name and Uplink it, when I return to use it later, I get the error:
Server Reject: this login name is protected on the server!
If I create a new name and Uplink it (using email address and password) and start the multiplayer game, it works. I can also quit the game right away, and I can still get back in with my name. But if I play for a while, then I can no longer use that name to get back in. I've tried this with four names, and I keep losing them.
I have reinstalled the game and deleted the appdata folder, and that doesn't help.
It seems to be a problem with the account because this problem happens with the account on multiple computers. Yet other people's accounts work fine on those same computers. And I'm doing the exact same thing those people do to Uplink.
