Trying to fix the graphics screws up my computer!

I've just started a week-long vacation with my family and had to bring my gaming laptop with me. But I had to deal with the serious problem that I had decided to ignore before and simply play Starmade on the desktop alone because of- The graphics in the game are messed up on my computer, as shown in this topic:

I followed the directions in that topic to update my graphics card, but when I did so, it has now broken my computer and I am having bluescreens and crashes! My monitor is messed up and everything is very low-quality in terms of resolution and really ugly. How do I fix it?
