I've been reading this book series lately and they use tractor beams and shears to board and storm and immobilize faster ships.
Tractor Beam: A device that functions almost the same as the docking beam (looks/function wise) but it is fired from the chosen block just like missles and AMCs. It has a range, strength and power usage ratings. So the more connected blocks the more range and strength, but the more power use. When the beam touches another ship it immobilizes it and slowly draws it in towards your ship. This would be useful for fighting fighters, smaller ships or bigger ships that you want to board and storm. Unless...
Shears: A utility device that you put on your ship to cut tractor beams. The more blocks touching, the stronger tractor beams that you can "cut" off of your ship. You have to equip it to an hotbar slot and actually use it, and it has a long cooldown time depending on the amount of shears you have.
