I'm new to Starmade. I've had a good bit of fun just exploring and strip mining asteroids, but now I'm looking to establish a base of operations. Just one problem: If I wander too far away, how do I find my way back? The navigation menu just seems to show objects that are about 2K m away, give or take. Is there a way to set a permanent waypoint that can be used for navigation anywhere in the star system? Or do I just have to navigate sector to sector?
Separate question, is there just one star system in the game, or multiple star systems?
    Thanks for your help.

Ah, a proper starmap is on Schema\'s to do list, last I heard. For now, some simple notes on the side will do. It\'s pretty easy to mark down the sector your base is in and find your way back.
To get to the concievable \'edge\' of any universe in Starmade, you would have to fly for about 5,000 years. This space is filled with star systems and the voids inbetween them, with more objects being added as Schema and Beetlebear get work done. Each star system is 8 sectors wide, long, and tall.

Thank you. I just discovered if you type a sector in the waypoint field it\'ll show you how to get there sector by sector, which helps.
On star systems, does it take long to traverse the void between them?
