The Dragon Raiders. The eleventh most feared mercenary group in this quadrant of the galaxy. Now with 20% extra death!

    Server: starmade.the-rebel-alliance.com:4242

    History

The Dragon Raiders were formed by Lieutenant Commander Jayce Kreiger Williams of the United Alliance Fleet (UAF) after his honourable discharge as a self-funding hobby during retirement. During their early stages, the Dragon Raiders consisted of a half-dozen men and women in decommisioned fightercraft offering escort services to mining ships and trade routes. After word of their reliability was spread, the Raiders slowly grew to their current size, with over 1,400 men and women manning 20 frigates and several hundred fighters, bombers, and scouts. Recently, Jayce sent a team, headed by Gen. Tordoc B. Virtic to a new section of the galaxy in order to found a new chapter of the Dragon Raiders.

    Ranks

    Admiral

The Admiral is the leader of the entire fleet. It is the highest rank, and only one admiral is ever in service. When needed for battle, the admiral's station is on the capital ship in the conflict.

    Commodore

A commordore is the direct second of the admiral himself, hand-picked for their job. They will assist to command the fleet, and act in the admiral's stead on the capital ship or dreadnoughts.

    General

Generals command from and fly the massive dreadnoughts and carriers into battle. They are involved only in massive attacks against or by the Dragon Raiders, or in their own areas. Generals are given large swaths of quadrant to defend, attack, and colonize. A general who has shown superior tactical planning and has a tremendous skill in combat will rarely be picked by the admiral to serve as one of his seconds.

    Captain

A captain is involved in large battles where bringing their destroyers into the fight will quickly end it. They are in command of flotillas and squadrons, but may also act of their own accord in exploration and colonization missions, solo or with minimal backup. Captains will often be given groups of sectors to protect or attack.

    Commander

The commander of an operation leads all ships involved in it, whether it be a planetary assault, station defence, or small space battle, the commander is in charge of it. They will fly frigates or cruisers into combat to this purpose.

    Lieutenant

A lieutennant will command squadrons of fighters, often in support of the cruisers, science vessels, or artillery ships they pilot. A lieutenant's main job is to organise his squadron to take down medium-to-large ships, and assist the commander of the operation to complete his main objective.

    Officer

An officer has the same rank and duties as a sergeant, but is being considered for a higher rank in the fleet. Officers are given tough challenges to test and hone their skills. They are intrusted with flying corvettes, frigates, and cruisers.

    Sergeant

Sergeants mainly command wings of fights, and sometimes entire squadrons. A sergeant is named such once he has shown a grasp of battle tactics and strategy well above a corporal's. Sergeants fly heavy fighters, bombers, and corvettes.

    Corporal

A corporal is often the leader of a wing of fighters. These people have displayed combat prowess that surpasses a normal pilot, and have been proved able to lead. Corporals fly fighters, bombers, and stealth ships.

    Pilot

Pilots fly the fighters, bombers, and stealth ships of the fleet. Though all ranks can fly into combat and fight, pilots are the bulk of the battle, and quickly earn respect and rank if they excel in combat.

    Miner

A miner does what one might assume: he mines. Though of the lowest millitary rank in the group, miners are offered respect befitting to those who aquire the resources to build ships requiring higher ranks to command.

    Organization of Ships

A single ship, whether a fighter, bomber, frigate, or carrier, is refered to as a Unit. When refering to a large ship, the unit is commanded by the ship's captain.

Four units make a Wing. A wing is lead by the Wing Commander, who is the first unit in the wing.

Four wings make up a Squadron. A squadron is lead by the Squadron Commander, usually from a frigate or cruiser.

Four squadrons create a Flotilla. In small battles or planetary conflicts, the flotilla is comprised of every ship in combat. A flotilla is lead by its Commander.

The Fleet is the all-encompasing term for every single ship, fighter, or mining vessel in the Dragon Raiders. The fleet is lead only by the Admiral or one of his Commodores.

    Volcano-class Frigate:

The Volcano Frigate was originally a massive cargo ship for transporting ores between systems, but was added to the fleet during a particularly nasty conflict. When it was found that its size made turret mounting and the construction of massive railguns easier, and its already powerful engines were upgraded further, the Volcano became the new frigate for the Raiders' operations. While not as asthetically pleasing as some of the other larger combat ships, the Volcano's imposing figure and massive firepower gives even dreadnoughts a tough fight. This ship's docking bay has been repurposed to hold a single Phoenix-class Bomber for use against large, unshielded targets.

    Mass: 1,865.5 (Blocks: 18,655)

    Length/Height/Width: 100m/22m/22m

    Power: 188,658.5 (243,469.2 e/sec)

    Thrust: 6,798.4

    Shields: 77,801 (2609 s/sec); Blocks: 947; Recovery: 1.0

    EBAHR Support

The Energy Battery And Hull Repair Support ship was conceptualized as a minimal-combat vessel better suited to repairing and recharging the larger ships in the fleet. The first model had no weapons, few shields, moved slowly, and was an easy target for fighters. Over a few years, the EBAHR ship design was refined to better suit the needs of a battle; heavy shielding and armour so that the ship could place itself between a damaged friendly and an engaging hostile, giving the injured ship cover to limp to safety. A small AMC system was added so that the EBAHR could provide covering fire for other ships when not recharging or repairing others.

    Mass: 175.7 (Blocks: 1757)

    Length/Height/Width: 36m/12m/14m

    Power: 21094.0 (23058.0 e/sec)

    Thrust: 196.8

    Shields: 47,166.0 (1820 s/sec); Blocks: 447; Recovery: 1.0

    Dragonclaw-class Corvette:

The Dragonclaw Corvette was the first large ship ever designed by the Dragon Raiders themselves. The original design favored a slower, larger, and stronger build, whereas the newest model is redesigned for recon and light combat missions; its shields can take several hits from even the strongest cannons, and its speed is described "as if it was trying to crush you against your chair." The comparitively light armaments still pack a brutal punch, and its cannons have been designed for extremely rapid fire, perfect for wearing down shielding before launching a few missiles to bore through hull plating. Additionally, it carries two Talon-class Shuttles in its docking bay for planetary recon missions.

    Mass: 2655.9 (Blocks: 26,559)

    Length/Height/Width: 124m/24m/80m

    Power: 1,204,631 (180,332.4 e/sec)

    Thrust: 6713.4

    Shields: 108,843.0 (3323 s/sec); Blocks: 1567; Recovery: 2.0

    =Class Four=

    Phoenix-class Bomber:

The Phoenix was made with one clear purpose: to utterly demolish large, slow, unshielded targets. The Phoenix manages to pack a massive payload into a very small package, and has enough shielding to withstand the hits it takes from a ship's defence turrets. It pays for this, however, with its speed: the Phoenix is easily outmanoeuvred by any fighter, and is quickly taken out without other fighters to protect it.

    Mass: 25.6 (Blocks 256)

    Length/Height/Width: 10m/6m/8m

    Power: 20,000.0 (1196.9 e/sec)

    Thrust: 13.8

    Shields: 7789 (497 s/sec); Blocks: 30; Recovery: 0.5

    Strykewing-class Heavy Fighter

The idea behind this fighter class was simple: our fighters are too weak to stand up to larger ships without exploding! Let's make a bigger, stronger, tougher fighter, and show those punks! The Strykewing is equiped with a terrifying amount of AMCs for ripping through shields and hull. With well over three times the shield capacity of the Fireburst Light Fighter, and many times its damage output, the Strykewing has taken over that class's job in whittling down the shields of large ships, with a wing of these taking down a frigate's shielding faster than it can defend itself.

    Mass: 70.8 (Blocks: 708)

    Length/Height/Width: 21m/18m/18m

    Power: 20,000 (6723.1 e/sec)

    Thrust: 61.5

    Shields: 11949.0 (677 s/sec); Blocks: 57; Recovery: 0.5

    Fireburst-class Light Fighter:

The Fireburst Light Fighter was made to fly in packs. Faced alone, it poses little threat to a frigate or cruiser, but a wing of them can make short work of a heavily shielded foe. Its main job is to whittle down the shields of large ships before the bombers launch their payloads at unprotected hull, and to dogfight with other fighters.

    Mass: 30.8 (Blocks: 308)

    Length/Height/Width: 12m/7m/16m

    Power: 20,000 (3427.3 e/sec)

    Thrust: 68.8

    Shields: 2,664.0 (229 s/sec); Blocks: 6; Recovery: 0.5

    Talon-class Shuttle:

The Talon Shuttle is a simple one-man ship designed for space-to-surface missions to gather information on defences and terrain. It is armed with only very weak AM cannons and has minimal shields and hull plating, so it is forced to flee if it should find conflict.

    Mass: 6.2 (Blocks: 62)

    Length/Height/Width: 8m/5m/6m

    Power: 20,002.0 (704.2 e/sec)

    Thrust: 19.5

    Shields: 1,678.0 (164 s/sec); Blocks: 3; Recovery: 0.5

    CARJS Scout

The Cloaked And Radar-Jammed Scout ship is a true scientific breakthrough. Using perfectly efficient power designs, it is able to cloak visually and avoid radar detection indefinitly. Unfortunately, this design also leaves no room for hull armour, weapons of any kind, or stong shielding, and so must rely only on its stealth to achieve its missions: recon and exploration.

    Mass: 5.5 (Blocks: 55)

    Length/Height/Width: 19m/11m/13m

    Power: 20,000.0 (8445.3 e/sec)

    Thrust: 7.8

    Shields: 3744.0 (293 s/sec); Blocks: 10; Recovery: 0.5

    ROAM-class Miner:

The Rare Ore and Minerals Miner was designed during a dry job streak. Wishing to keep the Dragon Raider's finances in the green, Jayce had his ship designers think up a small ship capable of mining out an asteroid quickly, and being able to retreat quickly or soak up hits should it come under fire. The team came up with a gobular core holding the bulk of shielding, energy, and salvage lasers for the craft, with an extended engine core held away from main power generators, in case of overload.

    Mass: 44.6 (Blocks: 446)

    Length/Height/Width: 21m/10m/10m

    Power: 20,000.0 (1,114.9 e/sec)

    Thrust: 28.6

    Shields: 11,668.0 (665 s/sec); Blocks: 55; Recovery: 0.5

    =Special Class=

    DAMC Ship Defence Turret:

The Dual AntiMatter Cannon Turret was designed after calls for a smaller version of the popular TAMC Planet Defence Turret for use on medium-sized ships. The DAMC's decreased size lead to lower damage output, but the mobility of the model was said to more than make up for it.

    Mass: 12.1 (Blocks: 121)

    Length/Height/Width: 9m/5m/8m

    Power: 20,000.0 (1346.9 e/sec)

    Thrust: 18.3

    Shields: 4228.0 (320 s/sec); Blocks:12; Recovery: 0.5

    TAMC Planet Defence Turret:

The Tri-AntiMatter Cannon Turret was first tested on the Dragon Raiders' home base of , where it proved an irreplacable help in dealing with large frigates or carriers that came to assault the base. Its three massive cannons pack enough of a punch to eventually pierce even the strongest shields. When confronted by multiple TAMCs supplemented by distraction fighters, they are a force to be feared.

    Mass: 17.0 (Blocks: 179)

    Length/Height/Width: 14m/6m/8m

    Power: 20,000.0 (2,737.0 e/sec)

    Thrust: 19.4

    Shields: 5,541.0 (389 s/sec); Blocks: 18; Recovery: 0.5

    QAMC-Turret:

The Quad AntiMatter Cannon Turret is currently under testing in the secret lab base of . Demand for an even larger and deadlier version of the TAMC Turret sparked the idea: "Hey, let's just add another cannon!" The first testing of this turret, however, proved disasterous, with the entire model violently exploding from overheating. Scientists are struggling to cram more heat sinks into the turret, with limited results.

I agree. They were the first two I made, before I figured out wedges. I just haven\'t mustered the will to start yet.

make a large bomber, that little one is weak: make about 50lx20hx20w, in a semi circle or something, criss cross rows of 50 sd-bb,kb missiles, put some power, some thruster and shield and hull and perfect bomber

I\'m intending to make a ship suitably large and destructive once I come up with a design for the \"Artillery\" class. Your idea sounds interesting for it; I may have to steal it.

If by faction info, you mean server IP, this faction doesn\'t have one, at the moment. Our bandwidth is stretched very thin at the moment, and we can\'t currently afford server hosting.

We are, however, considering joining a separate server in the interim, and if this happens an update will be posted.

Mmm this looks intersting. I have been looking for a while for a new faction since my other one got disbanded. I was a commodore and led all scouting operations for the UEF before some traitors tore it apart. I took a small break from the game bc of school but now I am interested in joining! I\'ll accept whatever position you need me in and I have done a lot of shipbuilding on top of my regular duties.

Anyway this looks like a good faction. Is there an application you want or something?

At the moment, there\'s no formal application to join; just show interest and you can consider yourself a Dragon Raider. Since you\'ve already got experience as a Commodore, I think it wise to grant you the rank of General.

Stand by for further orders as we work out our server problem!

You\'ve got some cool ships here. Although, I find it interesting that you called the amount of AMCs on the Strykewing \"terrifying\". :P

Maybe after we utterly destroy the humans in the UGSC, we can jump servers and test your defenses!

Thanks to the efforts of a few people, our faction has a couple choices for home servers! At the rate this is going, I don\'t expect us to be serverless for long!
