Starmade on AWS

Hey everyone. i'm trying to put a starmade server up on AWS (amazon web services, a windows server 2008 r2 micro instance) and having problems. i've marked the launcher as an allowed app both outbound and inbound in windows firewall and setup TCP forwarding on port 4242 (AWS doesn't have an option for UDP). when i launch the client on my end it connects to the ip address and stalls there. the only thing i can think of for why it's doing so is that a micro instance might not have enough cpu power to fully run the server. i've checked memory usage on the server when its running on localhost and it holds steady at around half of what is available on AWS. any info/suggestions would be welcome, i'm willing to upgrade the account if need be to make this work.
