    Hello everyone,

it seems that schema wanted to launch an irc channel about 44 weeks ago but didnt annonce or "feature" it enough so it got abandoned.

Since iam an IRCs person and all clients offer so many good features, better visibilty, accessibility and stability than the current chat system why shouldnt we use the IRC instead? :)

There is already an (official) IRC server that is now having the finishing touches put on it at http://chat.star-made.org.

considering that the freenode channel has been around for almost 44 weeks now and that it was made by \"schema\" (most likely the real one and no fake).

The question is simply why would youse want to host your own irc network instead of using established ones.

Dont bother with the maintenance and administration, the abuse and protection and instead benefit from freenodes free service. Since its also a big network, its easier for the users to maintain since they dont have to clutter their irc clients up with multiple simultanious server connections for one or two channels.

Also you can flawlessly create sub-channels there aswell in order to structure it, like #StarMade-server #StarMade-support etc where #StarMade is the official public channel as main node.

For me, running your own irc server only has a few uses, to restrict access even more (you dont want that) and to \"hide something\" because you are doing something shady :D

In the end i dont want to split a forming community, just stating opinions here.
