Starmade interfering with voice chat

So after installing starmade, both skype and steam voice began having issues with incoming audio. The people I talk with's voices come in incredibly choppy making it impossible to understand them. Anyone else experiencing this or have a solution?

That's called lag, it happens sometimes. Could be because of the memory usuage of Starmade or something, I don't know. Consider finding a teamspeak server though, many factions and servers use it to communicate, and it's normally less laggy then skype (wasn't aware steam had voice chat).

Edit; this is assuming you were playing starmade while trying to chat. Otherwise I don't know.
