    IMO there should be some fighting objectives added onto the tutorial.

    Maybe after you finish the current tutorial stuff a cage with some quads inside blows open and you have to fend them off so they don't harm anyone. Then a wave of pirates comes and you have to build a ship out of some given parts and fend them off, if you die your ship would be returned in a perfect state for you to upgrade or try again.

    I think the fighter might have to be rigged to make it near impossible to lose. Like, A tiny pirate drone vs you in an improved Isanth. As for fighting human targets, a shooting range like in Bench's awesome Smuggler's Cove station would work fine.

    You could always "rig" the battle, so that the damage output of the hostile drone does not exceed 6% of the player's shield regeneration (standard combat rate). (E.g. maximum per-shot damage from the drone: 50, no faster than once per second; standard shield regeneration statistic on the player ship: 1000, combat regen: 60 s/s)
