I looked for another thread that discussed this, but could not easily find one, hence my post here.
It's simple really, if you have something selected, allow a person to press a button and it sets the waypoint to that entity. For example, maybe there is a ship 15km away. Allow the person to select the ship in the N screen, set a waypoint to it, and jump to that ship's sector. Or maybe for asteroids, or bases, etc. If you want to balance it a bit, make it so the person has to be looking in the direction of the entity for it to work.
I suggest this because I find it annoying being able to see the sector coordinates while looking in the direction of what I have selected, yet I have to either remember them, open the waypoint screen, and then type it in, or if I'm a little tired and having trouble remembering them, I have to type it into notepad on my second monitor, and then copy and paste it into the waypoint screen. I see this as a hassle and it's also not realistic.
