I've always had an issue getting the ship name reversed identically on the other side of the ship. Especially large ones. But if you plan ahead a bit you can make it a lot easier, especially massive ones.
I'm not artistic so I found a pixel text generator and played with it till I had something reasonable.
Figure out how much room you have for the name plate.
Make sure the area behind or infront of the xy plane of where your putting the name is clear.
Or build it completely clear of the ship. You then need to make two sets of copy and paste later.
Put up a mirror between where the name is going to be worked on and the reversed side.
Build a frame for copy and pasting.
You just need a copy and paste frame on each side of ship that is mirrored.
If building completely clear of the ship you don't need to do this but a frame on both sides will be needed later.
(I have my adv build limits set to 100 so for this really large name I made sections that were 100m long.)
Once the frame is built cancel that mirror.
To avoid mucking up your design only start the next bit when your only going to work on the name plate alone. Diverting yourself and doing other work on your ship and forgetting to cancel the next mirror will muck up your ship.
Start a mirror in front or or behind where your name plate is going to be. Make sure key points on the copy and paste frame are also remirrored in reverse mirror as welll. Do this by removing a block and replacing it to be copied to the mirrored version.
Now while building your name plate a reverse one is created that you can copy and paste into place later.
Here is an example. Took me a couple hours to make with added wedges. 440m long and 35m high so 5 x 100m copy and pastes. I'm just about ready to start copying and pasting the reverse version to the opposite side. Hope this helps someone.
