Ship Building - Help Please

    I just got the game...as of 5 minutes ago. I started it, the tutorials are very vague, and I need some help.

    I managed to make an ugly block that is my first ship but I am having problems with the weapons/salvaging lasers. I bought the control part for each the antimatter lasers and the salvage beam and I attach them to my ship. I've attached the individual lasers to those points (through selecting them with C and attaching them with V) but when I go into my spaceship core to pilot the ship, I can't fire either of them.



    What am I doing wrong?

    Have you activated your systems through the weapns menu yet? As in, do they show up on your hotbar during flight mode?

    If you can\'t see them on the hotbar during flight mode, it\'s most likely because they haven\'t been assigned a number yet.

    How do I assign them a number?

    I\'ve made sure they have an output or whatever for the lasers....and I have activated all the salvage beams

    I\'ve been to the weapons menu but it doesn\'t show anything but the docking core.

    If I enter the individual cores for the salvage/lasers they fire just fine...but in the main cockpit they don\'t appear at all. Do they have to be touching the main core when I build the ship?

    Your weapons computers don\'t need to be adjacent to the main core. All you need to do is assign them a number in your flight-mode hotbar.

    I believe \"T\" is the key that enters your weapons menu in default controls. If not, it\'s in the same menu as the inventory and shop. You\'ll see a weapons tab between those. That\'ll take you there.

    On the left column of the weapons menu, you\'ll see a list of all of your weapons on the ship. To assign each weapon a number, simply click on the weapon computer and type the number you wish to bind it to. It will show up next to the weapon\'s name.

    After that, exit the menu and you should see the computer block on your hotbar during flight mode. Hit the number that they\'re assigned, and you\'ll activate that weapon for use.

    I don\'t see them on there though...I attach them to my ship but I don\'t see them in the Weapons (T) menu.

    I miraculously managed to get the Salvage ones on there, athough I have no idea how that happened....I am still missing the antimatter one though

    If everything is hooked in properly, they should be appearing.

    If you hit C on you computers in build mode, are they highlighting the cannons they are connected to?

    I had a similar problem with missiles. I had to place the computer, hit C, and then proceed to place the guns. They didn\'t operate when I connected them after installing them. That might be an issue, though it\'s not supposed to happen.

    Just to be clear, you CAN see the salvage computer in the Weapons(T) menu, correct? Is there anything else there?

    I can see the salvage computer and I added some Missiles too and they work just as you said...I am thinking about just scrapping that ship and starting over since I have the basics down

    I pulled my station-cracker from the catalog and threw on a new anti-matter system in build mode. I seem to only have an issue when i connect the guns after installing them. I don\'t really know why, because my frigates didn\'t suffer from any issues, and I built them the other way.

    My guess is it\'s just a quirk. This game is still an alpha build, no matter how hard it tries to convince me otherwise. Just be sure to be methodical when piling on weapons systems. Getting it all connected can be a pain, which is why I tend to connect them before I put them on (when ships get large, either method is a headache).

    If you have any more issues, let me know. I\'m not a Starmade guru by any means, but I can try to help.
