    UPDATE: Resolved. Graphics card was overheating because I didn't cap off the framerate. I'll continue playing and add another update if it crashes again. A big thanks to LeD and Cryotech, they were extremely helpful.

    I'm having a particularly large issue with running the game client. It will run for anywhere from a minute to an hour, then suddenly freeze my entire system and force me to restart. This is an extremely powerful computer, and I've never had this issue, or even the slightest lag on graphically intense triple A titles on maximum settings.

    I've been talking to the support staff a lot and tried a multitude of solutions such as allocating more/less memory to Java, reinstaling Java, updating and reinstalling driver software, redownloading the game client, etc etc but the problem persists.

    I'm running with:

    • 16 gigs of DDR3 memory
    • Intel i7-3770K 3.5 GHz processor
    • Windows 7 64-bit OS
    • Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 graphics card

    If more specs are needed please let me know, and if you have any solutions for me I'd absolutely love the feedback - It's quite the thorn in my side at the moment.

    So, I looked up some more details on my graphics card, and it looks like Nvidia has a habit of botching it\'s drivers for my particular card. The one I updated to is a very recent release, July first, and it\'s had some mixed feedback. However, I\'ve had no problems, including the major ones gamers have mentioned with large titles like Planetside 2, and the problem is completely limited to Starmade.

    I\'ve also confirmed that the freezes I get are from the drivers crashing and trying to reboot - and failing, apparently. The screen freezes with what appears to be my entire computer, and the audio loops to form a sort of buzz. I didn\'t notice it before but the last few times I can hear a couple of full sounds from the game looping over, like salvage beams.

    If anyone else is running the game properly on the same card, I\'d love to get some info from them regarding what driver versions they use or any modifications they\'ve made.

    I noticed that whenever my computer locks up, its while I\'m harvesting in the game. So, this time I tried avoiding harvesting altogether. Instead of my computer taking a nose dive, the client crashed coming up with the following error;

    So now what I\'m wondering is why I have OpenGL issues when my driver is updated, and why whether or not the crash freezes my computer depending on what I\'m doing in the game(considering my computer specs).

    What is it with this particular game that hates my card so much?
