The new Reactor Chambers are nice. They really come in handy and do a lot to balance a ship out (despite how annoying it is to keep yourself from maxing out the Power Reactor's capacity). Probably my biggest complaint with them is that you can't make them very compact and as a result wind up taking up irregularly-shaped spaces.
The source of this problem is the fact that each tier of reactor chambers need to be separated by an individual Reactor Conduit (which cannot touch any other groups) and that two groups of the same chamber type cannot touch.
I think an adequate fix for this problem would be to remove the need for individual tiers to be separated by conduits and instead require each group to meet a minimum block requirement for each tier (much like the method for leveling up groups of Power Reactors). This would be much more convenient and much less limiting in terms of shape and size, and would also increase the efficiency of use. In this sense, chambers could be built out in clumps as opposed to trees.
