I don't know if anyone discovered this yet. I have found that I can use rails to auto park and unpark shuttle craft. No more hitting the docking bay. Get in close to the rail then dock to it. it will automatically move you forward to a parking space. To un-park you undock from the parking rail and dock to the unparking rail which moves you to the doors for a safe exit. You can create multiple parking areas by either using different rails or by breaking one large rail into smaller parts.
