Problem with Storage Space blocks.

I'm having problems with storage block where a lot of the time when I put them in they just look like trigger area blocks.

Any ideas?

pretty sure they're supposed to look like that

they fill up with actual "blocks" as you add stuff to their inventory

When in build mode they look like that, but as soon ya exit they should...or at least they do for me, go solid. i must say its annoying when trying to make a square of them. finding that one empty space can be mind wracking!

The picture was taken in build mode, half of them look like boxes, the other half don't. And I've tried exiting build mode to look at them, the foggy blocks just become invisible.

It also doesn't matter whether or not there's anything in the inventory.

A trick you may be able to try is: Make sure you'r in creative and build mode. Place any block from creative mode into the storage block. This will instantly fill up all you're crates. It makes them allot easier to see while your placing them.

It doesn't make any difference whether or not something is in storage.

Wow thats kinda annoying, why couldnt they just be visible all the time? a storage crate doesnt go invisible when its not in use! Though im wondering why mine are visible out of build mode even empty >.>

Another problem I'm having is that putting in cargo space blocks doesn't seem to be increasing the capacity of the storage block they're linked to.

The storage blocks are only visible whenever there is enough in storage, try filling your storage completely and you should be able to see all the blocks.
They are supposed to go invisible to show that your cargo hold is empty.

And it increases the max capicity in form of mass not inventory space in the block, the amount of inventory space in it is basically infinite
