    Currently unfinished, would like some feedback on the page layout, information given and sugestions for how to provide downloads (I don't want to flood the community content with a bunch of tiny ships)

    Faction Description:

    A faction formed by colonists to prevent players from stripmining planets at their leisure. They see all players as hostile, and aim to end the chaotic nature of the starmade universe. Their long term goal is the preservation of planets as living space, and the end of reckless and uncontrolled exploitation among the stars.

    • With progressively larger planetary miners threatening their cause, reliance on smaller ships have proven too slow, too often. The Preservers needed a tool that would pose an immediate threat to capital miners that could also be manufactured without the need for advanced weapons or large facilities, in order to see deployment on the less developed worlds commonly targeted by miners.

      The Messenger is a 3-stage suicide drone, shifting from its traveling state with the payload shielded from impacts. Before it collides with it's target the blast shields are withdrawn and the payload exposed. A secondary explosion is triggered shortly after, launching a dumb-fire warhead into the target after collision. While crude and failure-prone, they are typically employed en-masse by Redeemer corvettes, easily overwhelming larger ships.

    • The first mass produced ship belonging to the preservers was the squire; originally a turret design adapted as a strike fighter for attacking mining operations and trade lines. The ships crude engine and defense systems leave much to be desired, but the best-in-class firepower has earned the ship it's keep.

      Squire attacks are reckless in nature, as low speed and durability leads to short careers, but as they are mostly deployed against non-military targets that don't shoot back this isn't seen as much of an issue, and Preservers are rarely short on manpower.

    • The Squire's shortcomings against other fighters, particularly at range, required a compliment more suited for long range combat against smaller targets. Initial designs quickly proved inadequate as typical preserver manufacturing facilities lacked the equipment to produce more advanced weapon systems effective at range, leading to the formation of the Order of the Oak, the establishment of the first shipyard proper and the design of their premier fighter, the Mockingbird.

      The Mockingbird is designed to excel at long range missile combat with 8 sidemounted missile launchers and a pair of standard fare Hybrid-AMS turrets protecting from counterattacks. A bow mounted railcannon makes the ship a credible threat to larger ships when in packs.

    • Messengers quickly proved an effective deterrent, but their limited guidance systems made them unable to travel far under their own power. A mobile launch platform was quickly commissioned, codenamed Redeemer. The vessel is sorely underpowered in combat with the only armament being an underpowered missile launcher.

      The four Messengers carried however makes this one of the deadliest ships to see service under the Order of the Plains. A single Redeemer poses a credible threat even to combat vessels, provided it doesn't explode. While faster ships can outmaneuver the drones, and bigger ships gun them down, OotP fleets typically favor high damage at the expense of defense, forcing their opponents to focus fire on the drones before they hit gives the remaining ships some much needed breathing room.

      As my previous 6 reports apparently failed to convey, the ship needs more time! It's a miracle it is even able to fly on it's own power, or that it sometimes doesn't explode on launch. The following areas are still in dire need of redesign:

      Hostile detection system fails to initiate launch routines properly, and explodes instead. Clarkson jury rigged the shields to detect the explosion and use that to trigger the launch instead, but this is beyond ridiculous and bypasses the safety override: launch cannot be halted once initiated.

      Docking scaffold is suffering from fatigue from carrying too much weight after mere days. The disfiguring is leading to premature drone detonation and launch colissions, do i need to explain one more time why this is not acceptable???

      Launch pulse is scrambling drone targetting systems, making them occasionally treat the ship as their primary target, prototypes seven through thirteen all saw their drones turn around and ram the ship, except for twelve which exploded at launch.

      This ship is irredeemable, a threat to it's crew, itself and everything in a 5km radius, you cannot design a drone carrier system over the course of a weekend for fucks sake!

    • As raids resulted in an oversupply of power-transfer systems from scuttled refineries and factories, preservers sought to put these components to use in their fleets. Designed around a large shield drain beam, the principle behind the immortal is simple: Get in range and drain your opponents shields, using your opponent's defenses against them.

      The corvette quickly proved itself, when commanders realized an Immortal out of the main gun's reach could quickly drain larger ships dry, while turretfire wasn't enough to overcome the draining effect. The ship underwent heavy upgrades after the trial runs and were fitted with a support laser for general combat and rocket launcher for defeating turrets.
