Even with faction blocks on a ship and turrets the pirates destroy everything on the planet 2 big ships, what do you have to do to play the game, other than build new every week??
You can set a station or a planet as a homebase, which will make it immune to all damage, along with everything docked to it. That way you will always have a safe space to grow, develop and kick their ass eventually.

Beware that active defense like turrets will attack any controlled enemy entity in range. If you have a Pirate station in range and it still has turrets. Then those turrets will be attacked by yours. The result will be a never ending stream of pirate waves as the station keeps calling for backup. Only when all of the Pirate Stations turrets are death does this stop.
The Pirate Station itself is just an inert structure without AI control and is therefore not actively attacked by your turrets. Even though it may still be labeled as being owned by the Pirate Faction. If you shoot the Pirate Station yourself then it will once again call for backup. Only when the Pirate Station looses it's faction module and no longer is listed as being of the Pirate Faction. Will shooting it stop getting an enemy reaction.
No Pirate Station should be in load range of yours. You can have one close to farm Pirates with your Home Base. But it should be three sectors away so that you have to load the in between sector to reveal the Pirate Station. That way you can control the amount of enemy waves that spawn. In response to your Stations attack.
As early versions of StarMade use to chant and those above me stated USE a Home Base and Keep your ships Docked. Don’t build ships floating next to your Home Base. Get a docker on it asap dock and than continue building. Or add and use a Ship Yard on the Home Base.
