Performance Thread

Hey everyone, I have been trying to get back into the game - but I have been experiencing a performance roadblock keeping me from really enjoying the building. For me its mostly freezing, but I know a few people I have tried to get into the game have had low FPS issues as well.

What are some of the settings y'all have been using to get the most performance out of the game recently (I figure a common thread for this would be helpful to for new players as well)?

For reference here are my specs:
Intel I-7
Nvidia 1080
Unbuntu 64x
16gb ram

I don't see that option in the settings or the settings.cfg, does it go by another name?
