The title says it all. This is necessary because whenever a fleet ship overheats and somebody reboots it again, the ship will try to do the task they were assigned.
This also allow overheated ships to retain their AI, thus making it un-salvageable.
And it stops you from adding the ship to the fleet.
This is a problem that became visible because of the NPC update. Finally taking down an enemy mother ship only to see it unsalvageable is just infuriating. Also, being taken to an unknown sector the moment you reboot the enemy ship is hilarious and often annoying.
(You CAN salvage it via hand or shipyard. You just can not salvage it with your mining ship)
