because who wouldn't want cables. strung about their reactor room, or lining corridors. of course you could make these blocks functional as well, like Redstone in MC, but I think that would make ship design to complicated..

I think its implied that the wiring is far more complex then a few cables, as such, they are packed into the blocks already, so you need not physically wire up system computers to their respective utility blocks.



Also, this is alpha, decorative additions like that are very VERY low on the priority list.
